CLC Hosts Inaugural NLCC Leadership Event

College of Lake County hosted the first ever Northern Lake County Conference leadership event on Thursday, August 18, 2016

This event allowed 500 students from eight High Schools to come together and learn how to become more effective leaders at school and in their communities. The students learned different ways to take leadership responsibility and make a positive impact on others.

The Northern Lake County Conference is a brand new conference that became official this year. The eight High School institutions that make-up the Northern Lake County Conference are Antioch Community High School, Grant Community High School, Grayslake Central High School, Grayslake North High School, Lakes Community High School, North Chicago High School, Round Lake High School, and Wauconda High School.

The event also played a major role for staff members from all eight High Schools to meet each other, build relationships, and discuss ways to improve the conference.

The Director of Athletics at College of Lake County, Nic Scandrett, was pleased to have the Northern Lake County Conference students and staff utilize the CLC campus.

"We were extremely happy and honored to host the inaugural NLCC Leadership Event." Scandrett stated.

"This was their first function of the new conference, which is exciting in itself. These high schools are our neighbors and colleagues. We want to do everything we can to support and collaborate with them because we ultimately have the same mission, which is to educate and develop the young people of Lake County."

The staff of the eight High Schools worked for two years on the formation of the conference. Creating a quality inaugural event was a high priority for the conference leaders.

"I commend the leadership of the NLCC for their professionalism and foresight. It truly was a special event for the students and I'm proud that our campus community got to be a small part of it." Scandrett stated.
