The College of Lake County Men's Golf Team had another solid year, successfully defending our conference championship title for the sixth year in a row. All five of our top five players finished all-conference, and two of them finished all-region. Our top two finishers,
Eddie Winkelmann and
Jacob Trevino, claimed two of the five individual qualifying spots for the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament held in May. It was a grueling four-day tournament in which both players had respectable showings and represented the college very well.
Trevino battled through an up and down week, but his natural skill level and high level of determination carried him through.
Trevino fits right in with the best collegiate players in the country and we are confident he will have two more great years at a four-year institution.
Eddie Winkelmann finished the regular season as the Skyway Conference Player of the Year, and justified that credential at the National Tournament. Despite being a half-step off his A-game,
Winkelmann managed to post very respectable rounds of 77-73-76-72, which was good for a
T-23 finished and
All-American honors.
This is one of the highest finishes at the National Tournament in all of CLC history and we are very proud of his well-earned accomplishments.
Winkelmann's final round in particular was quite impressive, as the winds had picked up and he made several impressive par saves to keep his score low.
