Bill Wuczynski

Long-time Division I assistant coach Bill Wuczynski (pronounced wu-ZIN-ski) is entering his first season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at College of Lake County. Wuczynski comes to CLC after spending the 2024–25 season as an assistant coach at Canisius College, working under Jim Christian.

Wuczynski brings 30 years of collegiate coaching experience—nearly all at the Division I level—where he’s been known for his success in player development, recruiting, and building competitive programs. Over the course of his career, he has been part of coaching staffs at Boston College, Ohio University, TCU, UIC, FIU, Loyola-Chicago, and UNLV, earning postseason appearances and guiding numerous all-conference players along the way.

His strong ties to Christian’s staff spanned 13 seasons across four institutions—Canisius, Boston College, Ohio, and TCU. At Boston College (2014–2021), Wuczynski helped lead the Eagles to 75 wins, highlighted by a 19-win season in 2017–18 that included a victory over #1-ranked Duke, a trip to the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, and a berth in the NIT. While there, he coached and helped develop NBA first-round draft pick Jerome Robinson and standout guard Ky Bowman.

Prior to that, Wuczynski helped guide Ohio University to 49 wins across two seasons (2012–2014), including a MAC regular-season title and back-to-back postseason appearances. His work with All-American point guard D.J. Cooper helped elevate Ohio’s offensive efficiency to national prominence, as the team led the country in assists per game and ranked top 15 in multiple offensive categories.

At TCU (2008–2012), he was instrumental in the program’s turnaround, leading the Horned Frogs to their first winning season in seven years and a postseason appearance. His recruiting and player development impact was felt through players like Hank Thorns, Zvonko Buljan, and Amric Fields.

Earlier in his career, Wuczynski served on staffs at FIU, Loyola-Chicago, and UNLV, including five years at UNLV where the Runnin’ Rebels made four postseason appearances and landed nationally ranked recruiting classes.

A native of Chicago, Wuczynski graduated from UNLV in 1996. He and his wife, Shaunna, have two sons, Shane and Cooper.

Now at the helm of the Lancer Men’s Basketball program, Coach Wuczynski brings unmatched experience, energy, and a clear vision to lead CLC into a new era of championship-caliber basketball.
