Entering his third season at the College of Lake County, Coach Sam Choy looks to build on the momentum of a strong 2025 campaign. The Lancers posted an 18–9 regular-season record, earned multiple First and Second Team All-Region and All-Conference honors, and achieved a top-10 regional ranking among 29 teams for the first time in more than a decade. Heading into 2026, Coach Choy aims to continue this upward trajectory as the CLC women’s volleyball program continues to grow and compete at a high level.

Coach Choy brings more than 15 years of coaching experience across the high school, collegiate, and club levels. Prior to joining CLC, he served as head women’s volleyball coach at Moody Bible Institute (NCCAA Division II) from 2013–2015 and again from 2020–2023, earning NCCAA Division II Midwest Region Coach of the Year honors twice. His background also includes four years as an assistant varsity coach at Warren Township High School and over a decade of club coaching, including head coaching roles with Sky High Volleyball Academy and Precision Volleyball Club. As a player, Coach Choy competed with the UIC Men’s Volleyball Club Team, and continued playing competitively in leagues and beach volleyball for many years after college.
Off the court, Coach Choy is an accomplished marketing and business executive. He currently serves as Vice President and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Moody Bible Institute and has taught as an adjunct business faculty member at several colleges throughout the Chicagoland area. Prior to his work in higher education, he spent more than 25 years in the corporate sector.
