Lancers Close Regular Season Strong at GLBC 4, Set Sights on Nationals

GLBC 4, the final regular season tournament, was held in Green Bay, WI at Buzz Social, and both Lancer teams showed they are peaking at the right time.

Men's Bowling

The men entered the weekend sitting 9th out of 22 varsity programs with a 15-12 record, looking to make a late push. The team event proved to be their strongest of the season, going 4-1 — their best team event W/L record all year.

Their only loss came in Game 1 against UW Oshkosh Varsity, 796-924. From there, the Lancers responded in a big way:

  • G2 vs Iowa Varsity – W 984-847
Zack Shoemaker (207) and Zack Benz (202) led the charge.

  • G3 vs UW La Crosse Varsity – W 992-924
Lee McClellan rolled a huge 234, with Shoemaker adding 200.

  • G4 vs UW Platteville JV1 – W 869-799
A grind-it-out victory that showed toughness.

  • G5 vs Iowa JV1 – W 877-739

Day 2 began with the Lancers still in 9th place, battling for a playoff cut spot.

  • Set 1 vs Viterbo Varsity – L 735-864
    (183, 216, 184, 152)

  • Set 2 vs Mankato Varsity – W 713-451
Highlighted by a massive 257 game to secure the win.

  • Set 3 vs UW Oshkosh JV1 – W 771-481
    Strong set of 179, 198, 160, and a monster 234 to dominate.

The final Baker set against UW Milwaukee Varsity was a must-win to tie for 8th and reach the playoffs. The Lancers battled frame-for-frame:

  • 183-175 (W)

  • 155-175 (L)

  • 192-170 (W)

Holding a 10-pin lead entering the final game, the men ultimately fell 174-258, narrowly missing the playoff cut.

Despite the heartbreaking finish, every player competed with grit and displayed tremendous growth both individually and as a unit. The regular season showed clear progression, and the group is fired up to make a statement at the NJCAA National Championships, March 5-7, 2026 in Lansing, MI.

Women's Bowling

The women competed with a full five-player roster for the first time this season, highlighted by the addition of Peyton Mezo (Lakes). The impact was immediate.

  • G1 vs UW Oshkosh Varsity – L 723-733
A tough 10-pin loss, with sophomore Lillie Morin leading the way with a 179.

  • G2 vs Rock Valley (JUCO) – W 786-737
A MASSIVE regional win. Freshman Peyton Mezo exploded for a 221, lifting the Lancers past a key NJCAA Region opponent — an important measuring stick ahead of nationals.

  • G3 vs Marian (WI) JV1 – L 679-781

  • G4 vs Iowa – W 732-622
Freshman Savanna Lehman posted a strong 181 in the victory.

  • G5 vs Viterbo Varsity (2nd in Conference) – L 730-776
A hard-fought battle and impressive showing against one of the conference's top teams.

For the first time this season, the women made their mark as a complete unit, showing depth, confidence, and competitive fire.

Both programs are trending upward at exactly the right time. February will be focused on sharpening spare shooting, refining adjustments, and fine-tuning execution.

With momentum building and confidence growing, the Lancers are set to make their first-ever appearance at the NJCAA National Championships on March 5-7, 2026 in Lansing, MI — and they're heading there ready to compete.
