Victory Royale! CLC Lancers Duo Annihilates Waubonsee to Open the Season

The College of Lake County Lancers esports squad kicked off their fall campaign with an absolute masterclass on the island, dismantling Waubonsee Community College in a 2-0 Zero Build sweep that was never in doubt.

Leading the charge was returning powerhouse Mario Proctor, whose veteran poise and natural cover mastery set the tone from the opening drop. Pairing alongside him was dynamic freshman phenom Damian Connard—better known across the lobby as "4.0"—who wasted zero time proving that his collegiate debut was strictly business.

Game 1: Pure Aim and Lobby Control
In the no-cover environment of Zero Build, positioning and laser aim decide everything. The Lancers established early map authority, punishing rotations across open terrain and checking every Waubonsee advance with relentless beam accuracy. Proctor's veteran spacing combined with Connard's clinical entry fire left the Chiefs scrambling for over shield recharges with zero room to reset.

• Final Score: CLC Lancers 23 – Waubonsee 7

Game 2: The Sledgehammer Finish
If Game 1 was a statement, Game 2 was an outright demolition. Hitting every drop cleanly and snowballing a rapid elimination lead, Proctor and "4.0" turned the lobby into a shooting gallery. Connard lived up to his moniker with surgical marksmanship in mid-range shootouts, while Proctor anchored the late-game storm circles, utilizing elevation and natural terrain to stack eliminations at will and shut down any hope of a comeback.

• Final Score: CLC Lancers 36 – Waubonsee 9

Coach's Corner
Following the sweep, CLC Lancers Head Esports Coach Matthew Hixon, known throughout the competitive scene as "99centMcFury," praised the duo's immediate chemistry and laid out high expectations for the road ahead:

"I'm extremely confident in my athletes this year. With Mario's experience and Damian's precision and pro-level knowledge of the game, I foresee another National appearance this year for the program."
