The College of Lake County Men's Tennis Team opened their 2023 season by travelling to Elmhurst University. The CLC Lancers came away with a 4-3 victory. The dual match opened with the two teams splitting the two doubles matches. CLC's first doubles team of
Billy Friedman and
Gavin Murrie won
Friedman and Murrie continued their winning ways, winning their two singles matches.
Billy Friedman won his #1 singles match 6-4, 6-3 and
Gavin Murrie also won at #2 singles, 6-3, 6-3. At #4 singles
Lukas Januskis topped his opponent 6-3, 6-2.
CLC came close to sweeping the singles matches but lost at #3 and #5 singles in match tiebreakers.
Memphis Gallego lost 5-7, 7-5, and then 10-8 in the match tiebreaker at #3 singles.
Erik Delgado also went to a match tiebreaker at #5 singles, eventually losing 0-6, 6-0, and then 10-6 in the match tiebreaker.
The CLC Tennis Team's next match will be against regional opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College on Sunday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa, IL.
The women's tennis team played a scrimmage against the Elmhurst University women's tennis team at the same time as the men's match. Participating for the women's team were Mia Falconi, Bethany Lintner, Kat Danilushkin and Natalia Avalos.
Mia Falconi and Bethany Lintner will be representing College of Lake County at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tennis Tournament May 6, 2023, in Tyler, TX. Mia was the NJCAA Regional Champion, Regional Player of the Year, and Regional Sportsmanship winner.
