College of Lake County is pleased to announce veteran volleyball coach
Sam Choy has joined our athletics program as Head Women's Volleyball Coach. A former college volleyball athlete, Coach Choy joins CLC with over 15 years of volleyball coaching experience at the high school, college and club levels. Prior to CLC, Coach Choy was the Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Moody Bible Institute from 2013-2015 (Led the Lady Archers to two consecutive regional championship finals and named NCCAA Division II Midwest Region Coach of the Year for the 2014 and 2015 seasons) and then again from 2020 to 2023, where he built a distinguished coaching career marked by a commitment to excellence and mentorship. With a strong background in player development and strategic coaching, Sam brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to our volleyball program. His experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly inspire our athletes to achieve their full potential both on and off the court. A connection to Lake County; Coach Choy also served as the Assistant Varsity Coach at Warren Township High School for four years, and has coached regional and national club teams for 12 years.
When not coaching volleyball, Coach Choy is a seasoned marketing and business executive, and currently serves as Vice President and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Moody Bible Institute. He has also taught as an adjunct business faculty at various colleges in the Chicagoland area. Prior to Moody, he spent over 25 years in the corporate world.
