Volleyball Take First Game of Season 3-1

The Lancers launched into the 2024 fall season with a decisive 3-1 victory at Prairie State. The team had a slow start and lost the first set 18-25 caused by a high number of unforced errors combined with a lack of consistent offense. But they regrouped after the loss and began to execute on important fundamentals such as serve receive passing and choosing smart shots selections on offense. Thanks to the consistent hitting from OH Skylar Brown, great blocking by MB Madison Schippel, and great effort by setter Vivyana Silva, the Lancers were able to win the next three sets to take the match. This is a rebuilding year for the Lancers volleyball program. Their new head coach came on in early August, and they did not have enough roster players until mid-August when most other schools are already in mid-preseason. But the student athletes who committed to the team worked hard for two weeks before the August 28 match, and were able to enjoy a victory as a result of their winning attitude before and during this first match.  Come out and support the Lancer Volleyball Wednesday, September 4th vs MVCC at 6:00pm.

Congratulations to Head Coach Sam Choy on his first win as the Lancers Head Coach!
