The College of Lake County men's tennis team had a dominant showing on Sunday, winning both matches of their doubleheader.
In the morning matchup against Illinois Valley, the Lancers started strong in doubles. Dwayne Daarol and Evan Bernales took the win at #1 doubles, 8-5. Seth Lampkin and Pablo Galan mirrored that with another 8-5 victory at #2. At #3 doubles, Ian Reyes and Mark Hornung staged an impressive comeback, rallying from a 2-6 deficit to win 8-6.
The momentum continued into singles play. Dwayne Daarol adjusted to the windy conditions and cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at #1 singles. Evan Bernales dominated at #2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1. Seth Lampkin was solid at #3, taking his match 6-1, 6-2. At #4 singles, Pablo Galan battled through gusty conditions and came out on top in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-1, 6-7, 10-5. Mark Hornung dropped his match at #5 singles, 3-6, 2-6, but Vinny Marino closed out the match strong with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #6.
The Lancers defeated Illinois Valley 8-1.
In the afternoon match against MATC, CLC showed no signs of slowing down, sweeping all doubles and singles matches en route to a 9-0 victory.
Next up, the Lancers will host Waubonsee on Monday, April 15 at 2:45 p.m. at Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa.
