Lancers Power Through Rain Delay to Defeat Moraine Valley 8-1

The College of Lake County men's tennis team showed resilience and focus on Wednesday, battling through a lengthy rain delay to earn a dominant 8-1 win over Moraine Valley.

The Lancers swept doubles play with strong performances across all three courts. Evan Bernales and Dwayne Daarol set the tone with an emphatic 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Seth Lampkin and Pablo Galan pulled away for an 8-4 victory, while Ian Reyes and Mark Hornung secured a hard-fought 8-5 win at No. 3.

As doubles were wrapping up, Vinny Marino had already begun his singles match at No. 6, taking the first set 6-3 before the rain hit. After the delay, Marino stayed sharp and closed out the match with a 6-1 second set.

At the top of the lineup, Dwayne Daarol cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Evan Bernales followed with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 performance at No. 2, and Seth Lampkin stayed composed for a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.

Pablo Galan grinded out a marathon first set 7-6 before rolling in the second 6-1 at No. 4. Mark Hornung battled back in the second set but ultimately fell 1-6, 4-6 at No. 5 for the Lancers' lone loss of the day.

The Lancers improve their record and will be back in action on Friday as they take on Oakton Community College at John's Park in Glenview. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
