The College of Lake County Men's Soccer team delivered a dramatic comeback Tuesday night, battling back from a 2-1 halftime deficit to defeat Prairie State College 3-2 in a thrilling road match up.
Prairie State took control early, but the Lancers refused to back down, heading into halftime trailing by just one goal. CLC came out with renewed energy in the second half, turning up the pressure and finding the back of the net twice to complete the comeback and secure the 3-2 victory.
Ezekiel Maya was instrumental in fueling the Lancers' attack throughout the match, consistently creating problems for the Prairie State defense and helping drive CLC's second-half surge. In the midfield, Jorgie Morales provided much-needed defensive stability, helping the Lancers maintain their shape and protect the lead as the game reached its tense final stages.
The play of the game came late when freshman goalkeeper Jayden Wenckus came up with a huge penalty-kick save to preserve CLC's one-goal advantage. Wenckus' clutch save proved to be the difference as the Lancers held on for the 3-2 road victory.
The win gives CLC another strong result early in the season and continues the Lancers' momentum as they look ahead to their next match up.
