Lady Lancers Heading Into Championship Week

The College of Lake County Women's Cross Country team traveled north to Winneconne, WI to compete in the KollegeTown Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Zion Benton Township High School graduate, Cynthia Arizmendi (FR/Zion, IL), reset her own 6k school record to 24:15 earning her the top NJCAA finisher with a 124th finish in the field of 419 runners. Annie Corbin (FR/Hawthorn Woods, IL) battled through for a near PR of 27:28 as the 326th finisher.

Both other first year runners delivered today too. Yeni Aguirre (SO/Round Lake, IL) posted a big time PR with a 28:39 and Olimpia Cruz (SO/Round Lake, IL) missed a PR by :01 with a 30:35.

"These ladies really hit their stride out their today and I couldn't be happier as we switch focus to the shorter 5k distance." said Coach Jorge Colin.

The Lady Lancers will race for the first time in Illinois this season and at the shorter distance of 5k as they head down to Galesburg for the Illinois Skyway Conference Championship and NJCAA DI Region IV Championships on October 26th hosted by Carl Sandburg College.
