Lady Lancers Put Two in the Top 25

Against NCAA DIII schools your Lady Lancers team placed 4th at the 2019 Tom Hoffman Invitational hosted by University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.

Leading the Lady Lancers for the second week in a row Cynthia Arizmendi (SO/Zion, IL) penciled her name into the record books by turning in a time of 25:54 which earned her 7th place overall as well as being the first NJCAA finisher in the field. Both of these accomplishments are best performances a Lady Lancer has produced on the 6k course. Joining her in the Top 25 was another first-year runner Annie Corbin (FR/Hawthorn Woods, IL) who finished in 25th with a time of 28:58.

The duo of Yeni Aguirre (SO/Round Lake, IL) and Olimpia Cruz (SO/Round Lake, IL) worked together through 2 miles and were able to finish in 41st and 44th respectively. Rounding out the scoring in her debut race was Candida Rodriguez (FR/Gurnee, IL) finishing in 61st place.

"We came into the race expecting improved performances and our ladies didn't disappoint. They were more confident out there and really mixed it up well against those DIII runners." said Coach Jorge Colin. "What's more impressive is the team chemistry and their willingness to pick each other up at all times."

The Lady Lancers will take a week off from competition and travel to the University of Wisconsin Parkside on September 28th for their third race of the season.
