The Lady Lancers were led around the prestigious Wayne E Dannehl course by Cynthia Arizmendi (FR/Zion, IL). She topped her last week's performance by dropping a 24:41 which set a new school record, eclipsing the six year record by :15. Annie Corbin (FR/Hawthorn Woods, IL) had another solid performance and finished in 54th with a time of 27:22.
Yeni Aguirre (SO/Round Lake, IL) and long time best friend Olimpia Cruz (SO/Round Lake, IL) had gutsy races and finished 72nd and 87th with times of 29:09 and 31:43 respectively. Slashing 4:30 off of her first 6k run a week ago, Candida Rodriguez (FR/Gurnee, IL) finishing in 91st place in 32:42.
"I wasn't expect them to perform the way they did after the practice schedule they had the last two weeks but what we saw out there should have them really excited." said Coach Jorge Colin. "Sure, Cynthia setting the new record is great but even greater is the collective 9:00 of improvements on that course and 4 out of 5 PRs."
The Lady Lancers head back up north as they travel to the West Allis, WI on October 5th to compete at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran.
