The College of Lake County women's basketball team battled through a gritty, back-and-forth contest Wednesday night, emerging with an 88–83 double overtime victory over Milwaukee Area Technical College. Despite struggling to find a consistent rhythm in regulation, the Lancers showed tremendous resilience, delivering their best basketball when the pressure was highest.
Tatijana Ninkovic powered the Lancers with a standout performance of 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, controlling the game on both ends of the floor. Annamaria Luna added 16 points and 5 assists, while Monica Sierzputowski was a force inside with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Olivia Robinson stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals, making key plays in every phase of the game. Off the bench, Arianna Myers delivered a huge spark, posting 14 points and 10 rebounds and providing crucial minutes throughout both overtime periods.
After a night where CLC never fully hit its stride in regulation, the team dug deep, finding the spark they needed in the extra frames to secure the five-point win. Full credit goes to MATC for an outstanding effort from start to finish; they pushed the pace, competed at a high level, and helped create an instant classic.
Coach Morris praised his team's toughness, saying, "We didn't have our best stuff tonight, but our grit carried us. When the game got tough, our players refused to break."
He also credited the quality of the matchup, adding, "MATC played a phenomenal game. They made us earn everything. Games like this are why you compete, two teams fighting until the final buzzer."
It was a tremendous game of basketball and an impressive display of resilience and poise from the Lancers.
The Lancers move to 7-1 on the season and will be back in action Saturday, November 22nd when they travel to South Suburban for a 1:00PM tip-off.
