Tanner Morris Named Region 4/Midwest District B Coach of the Year After Historic Season
College of Lake County Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tanner Morris has been named the
Region 4/Midwest District B Coach of the Year following a record-breaking season that saw the Lancers reach new heights on the national stage.
Morris has led CLC to a
27-5 record, securing both the
Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Championship and the
Region 4/Midwest District B Championship, earning the program a coveted
berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. Under his leadership, the Lancers established themselves as one of the premier teams in the Midwest, showcasing dominance on both ends of the floor throughout the season.
A Season of Milestones
In just 3 years at the helm, Morris has transformed CLC into a competitive program, emphasizing a culture of hard work, discipline, and team-first basketball. This season, the Lancers exhibited exceptional chemistry, stifling defense, and high-powered offense, consistently outperforming opponents en route to their championship victories. "I knew this group had a chance to be very special from day one," said Morris. "Their commitment to excellence, both on and off the court, has been incredible. This award is a reflection of their effort, dedication, and belief in the process. I'm honored to receive it, but it truly belongs to the entire team and coaching staff."
Building a Winning Culture
Morris' impact at CLC has been undeniable. His ability to recruit and develop talent, implement a dynamic game plan, and foster a winning mentality has propelled the Lancers into competitive program at the top of Region 4. The 2024-25 campaign was a culmination of those efforts, with CLC capturing its first
NJCAA National Tournament appearance under his guidance. As the Lancers prepare to compete on the national stage, Morris and his team remain focused on their ultimate goal—Disciple, Sense of Urgency and Team Basketball and the rest will take care of itself. For now, Morris'
Coach of the Year recognition cements his status as one of the brightest coaching minds in the NJCAA, and with the Lancers continuing to rise, the future of CLC women's basketball looks brighter than ever.
