The College of Lake County women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the year with a dominant 7-0 sweep over Elgin Community College.
At the top of the lineup, Sasha Baer continued her strong start to the season with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles. Linnea Lindstrom followed at #2 singles, taking the first set 6-1 before her opponent retired, earning her first singles win of the season. Danielle Gatta battled back from a 2-5 deficit in the second set to secure a 6-1, 7-5 victory at #3 singles. Melanie Garcia rolled to an 8-2 win, while Valerie Mendoza showed resilience, rallying late to take her match in a tiebreaker, 8-7.
In doubles play, Baer and Lindstrom teamed up for an 8-1 win at #1 doubles, while CLC secured the second doubles point by default.
The Lancers will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Sauk Valley on Saturday.
