The Lancers Women's Tennis team started strong in doubles play, but Sauk Valley rallied to take both matches. At #1 doubles, Linnea Lindstrom and Sasha Baer battled hard before falling 8-9 in a tight tiebreaker. Danielle Gatta and Melanie Garcia competed well at #2 but came up short, 4-8.
In singles, Baer showed resilience at #1. After falling behind 0-3 in the opening set, she stormed back to take it 7-5. She dropped the second set but responded in the 10-point match tiebreaker, overcoming another early 0-3 deficit to win 10-7. Lindstrom fought through the heat at #2 but was outlasted by her opponent. Gatta continues to improve each match, but fell 3-6, 1-6 at #3. Garcia faced a tough challenge at #4 and dropped her match 0-6, 0-6. At #5, Valerie Mendoza delivered another strong performance, rolling to a 6-3, 6-0 victory to secure a second point for the Lancers.
The Lancers return to action on Tuesday, September 16, with a road match against Waubonsee at 2:45 p.m.
