The Lancers showed resilience and grit on the road last night, battling back from a slow start to earn a hard fought 66–64 overtime victory at Elgin Community College.
The holiday break lingered into the first half as the Lancers struggled to find rhythm and went into halftime trailing 32–15. After regrouping in the locker room, the message was simple: reset, respond, and get back to Lancer basketball.
That response showed immediately in the second half. The Lancers chipped away at the deficit, tightening things up defensively and gaining confidence on the offensive end. They closed regulation on an impressive 23–11 run in the fourth quarter, finding a way to grind their way back and tie the game at the end of regulation.
Momentum stayed firmly with the Lancers in overtime. Nevada Holm knocked down a clutch three-pointer to open the extra period, and from there the Lancers never looked back, executing down the stretch to secure the two-point win.
Olivia Robinson led all scorers with 18 points while adding 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Nevada Holm recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Monica Sierzputowski added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Annamaria Luna stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 steals. Arianna Myers chipped in with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lancers return home next as they host Morton College on Tuesday at 5:15 PM.
