The College of Lake County Women's Basketball team closed out non-conference play with an 83–58 victory over Richard J. Daley College on Tuesday.
The Lancers got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 16–15 after the first quarter and holding just a 31–29 lead at halftime. Head Coach Tanner Morris credited his team's resilience despite the early sluggishness.
"We didn't have our best energy early, but I liked that we stayed composed and didn't panic," Morris said. "We knew if we defended and played the right way, the game would turn."
That turning point came in a dominant third quarter. CLC locked in defensively, holding the Bulldogs to just five points while exploding for 27 of their own to seize full control of the game.
"Our third quarter was exactly what we're capable of," Morris said. "The defensive pressure, the communication, and the way we shared the ball really set the tone."
The Lancers were led by Arianna Myers, who provided a spark off the bench with a game-high 25 points and six rebounds.
"Arianna gave us a huge lift," Morris added. "Her aggressiveness and confidence offensively were big for us, especially coming out of halftime."
Annamaria Luna chipped in 19 points and seven assists, while Olivia Robinson filled the stat sheet with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Nevada Holm added a strong all-around performance with 12 points and nine rebounds.
"That's the balance we want," Morris said. "When we're getting contributions across the board and defending the way we did in the second half, we're a tough team to deal with."
The win marked the final non-conference contest of the season for the Lancers as they shift their full focus to conference play.
"Now it's all about consistency," Morris said. "Every game matters from here on out, and we're excited for the challenge."
CLC returns to action this week with a road trip to Prairie State on January 20 before hosting McHenry on January 22. Both games are scheduled for a 5:15 p.m. tip-off.
