The College of Lake County Lancers opened play at the South Suburban Tournament on Saturday, battling through a pair of competitive matches against Lake Michigan College and Highland Community College.

In the opening match, the Lancers fell to Lake Michigan College despite several strong individual performances. Sophomore outside hitter Rylee Bode led the offensive attack with an impressive 18 kills. Daniella Mazzola delivered an efficient performance at the net, recording nine kills without committing an error. Gabriella Wychers made an impact on both sides of the ball, finishing with three service aces and four block assists.

CLC returned to the court later in the day against Highland Community College. The Lancers battled throughout the match but ultimately came up short. Bode continued her outstanding tournament performance, leading the team with 20 kills. Deirdre Lowery added 11 kills, while setter Erica Randell directed the offense with 23 assists.

Despite the two setbacks, the Lancers showcased several strong individual performances and continued to compete with energy and determination throughout the day. CLC will look to build on those positives as the South Suburban Tournament continues.
