Rough Second half dooms Lancers

Box Score

After leading 27-26 at half time at South Suburban College, the College of Lake County's Women's Basketball team had a tough 3rd quarter, and lost 65 - 38 to the Bulldogs of SSC.

The Lancers were outscored 26 - 2 in the 3rd quarter, wiping out the first half lead and what was a promising game. "We played very well in the first half," said Coach Kyle Brokmeier, "but we forgot what made us successful. We settled for too many jump shots in the second half instead of attacking the basket, and we had lapses in boxing out that we cannot afford. We were even with them for 3 quarters, we just had a really bad quarter in the 3rd."

Kristen O'Brien (So. Warren) led the Lancers with 11 points, include 3 - 6 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. Sadie Contreras (So. Grant) was second with 9 points, all coming from the line where she was 9 - 10. O'Brien and Kennedy Worrell (Fr. Zion-Benton) tied for team lead with 4 rebounds, and Raven Nicoline (Fr. Round Lake) led the Lancers in assists.

The Lancers will try to get their first victory of the season during their next game when they travel to play Triton on Thursday, Nov. 19. CLC's next home game is Saturday, Nov. 21, against Kishwaukee - that game is a 1:00 p.m. tip.
