Feltner Leads Lancers Past Cavaliers in Final Minute

Box Score

A back and forth game, that never saw a lead larger than 7pts for either team, naturally came down to the final minute in order to decide a winner. The Lancers trailed by 7 with 35 seconds to go in the game when Tayler Feltner stole the wayward inbounds pass while alertly finding the 3 point arc, and took her shot, she was fouled on the play as the ball went through the hoop.

She executed the 4-point play to give the Lancers the lead 69-68. Kankakee took the ball down the court and lost the ball, with Kylah Collins being fouled hard and reacting causing offsetting fouls and both teams free-throw attempts. Kylah fouled out on the play, which allowed Taylor to take the final 2 free-throw shots. Feltner made both shots giving the Lancers a 71-68 lead. Kankakee executed only one of their free-throws, to inch within a bucket of CLC.

Kankakee then inbounded the ball and drove the lane, only to see their effort come up short as the ball bounced off the backboard giving the Lancers the 71-69 victory Tuesday evening. The Lancers were led by Feltner who poured in her season high 24pts, 3 assists, and 5 steals on the night. Kylah Collins, who won Region IV Player of The Week Honors earlier in the day also scored 20pts on the night. The loss was the Cavaliers first of the season dropping their record to 8-1 on the year, while the Lancers improved to 9-5.
