Women's Basketball Defeat Elgin CC to Open Conference Play

After a 17 day layoff (for the holidays) the Lancers (11-6) opened up 2020 with an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference rival Elgin Community College (3-11). The Lancers shooting was as cold as the temperature outside. After shooting 21% in the first half the team trailed by 9 going into intermission.

CLC would fall behind by as many as 15 points in the 2nd half, but the team found some rhythm in the fourth quarter and fought hard to overcome their struggles from their shooting in the field. Behind the efforts of Sophomore Forward, Kylah Collins (North Chicago H.S.), the Lancers tied the game to force overtime. Collins scored 20 of her game high 26 points in the second half and the overtime. She also had a game high 18 rebounds. Trailing 47-46 with 5 seconds to go, Collins got the ball and attacked the basket and was fouled with 1.6 seconds remaining. She stepped to the line and calmly made both free throws to secure the win. The win moved CLC to 12-6 on the season and 1-0 in ISCC play.

The Lancers will next host Moraine Valley on Tuesday, January 14th with a tip-off scheduled for 5:15pm.
