The Lancers women's basketball team took to the road for their 1st game of their 5-game road swing on Saturday, as they traveled to NJCAA D1 Sauk Valley CC. The Lancers won a close game 60-54.
Sauk Valley jumped to an early 8-0 lead in the 1st quarter and held a 14-12 first quarter advantage. The second quarter was much of the same, but the Lancers continued to grind out the quarter and keep the game close as they went into halftime down 26-25. The Skyhawks came out of the half and pushed their lead up to 35-27 forcing a Lancer timeout. After the quick time out, the Lancers came out sharp, with a couple of big defensive stops, along with a couple Mariah Smith and Chloe Sisco 3's that helped the Lancers find their momentum and trimmed the Skyhawk led to only 2 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Lancers used their quick ball movement and shooting in the 4th quarter to outscore the Skyhawks 20-12 and pulled out their 9th straight win 60-54.
Every Lancers that saw action on Saturday got in the scoring column. Chloe Sisco led Lake County with 15 points. Mariah Smith scored 13 points and dished out 4 assists, Mariya Sisco chipped in 11 points, 5 steals, 5 assist and 4 rebounds, while Camiria Sardin added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Off the bench Sydni Hill added a big spark with 8 points and 10 rebounds
With Saturday afternoon's win, the Lancers improved to 9-0 on the season and have set the longest win streak at CLC since, records kept, the 2012-13 season. The Lancers will be back in action on Wednesday, November 29
th as they travel to Madison College (WI) for a 5:30PM match up with the Wolfpack. The Lancers knocked off the Wolfpack back on November 14
th by a score of 82-62.
