The Lady Lancers Volleyball Team traveled to Waubonsee Community College for their match up against the Chiefs the evening of Wednesday September 11 with hopes of a win against a longtime rival. Unfortunately, while the Lancers were competitive, they were not able to sustain the needed strong offensive and defensive play to come out victorious and ended up with a 0-3 loss.
Out of the gate in the match, the Lancers started slow and immediately was in a six point that they could not recover from. Even though they made a valiant effort to close the gap, they ended up losing the first set 18-25. The second and third sets were different in that the Lancers were able to build a strong lead each in the last two sets, and sustained those leads well into the mid part of each sets, unfortunately they were not able to maintain those leads, faltering towards the end of each set and lost 19-25 and 17-25 respectively. And while the lady Lancers worked hard and gave a strong effort, they were plagued by too many unforced errors that turned into points for the opponent, and something any team cannot afford to do against a strong and consistent team like Waubonsee. However, the team does not feel defeated but working hard to continue to grow as volleyball athletes and great teammates.
