The College of Lake County Lancers women's soccer team came up just short Wednesday afternoon, falling 1-0 to the Elgin Community College Spartans in their final Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference game of the season in Grayslake.
Both teams battled in a tight defensive match, with few clear scoring chances. The Spartans managed to break through with the lone goal of the game in the first half, holding off several late Lancer attacks to secure the win.
Freshman goalkeepers Bella Ramirez and
Evelyn Czarnik split time in goal for CLC, combining for seven saves — Ramirez making four in the first half and Czarnik stopping three in the second.
With the conference schedule now complete, the Lancers will look to honor the sophomores on Sunday with their final home game of the year vs.Lincoln Land College.
