The College of Lake County Lancers couldn't keep up with Kankakee Community College, falling 17-5 on Sunday at the Grayslake Campus.
Kankakee got on the board first with a sacrifice fly by #15 in the opening inning. They broke the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits. An error brought in a run, followed by an RBI single from #15, a two-run double by #21, and a bases-loaded walk drawn by #14.
#39 earned the win for Kankakee, pitching five innings and allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out five and walking two. Jacob Redker took the loss for College of Lake County, going 4.2 innings and giving up seven runs (three earned) on seven hits, while striking out five and walking four.
Despite the loss, the Lancers collected nine hits. Kyle Larson led the offense, going 3-for-5 from the leadoff spot. Pratim Amin chipped in with a 2-for-4 performance, and Devin Gudenschwager drove in two runs from the eighth spot in the lineup.
Kankakee's offense tallied 13 hits and showed patience at the plate, drawing 12 walks. #21 led the way, going 3-for-6 with four RBIs. Multiple players — #15, #33, #1, and #30 — had multi-hit games, while #14 and #30 each drew three walks. Kankakee also stole three bases and turned one double play defensively.
The Lancers will look to bounce back when they travel to face Triton College on Wednesday.
