College of Lake County used a big fifth inning to surge past Palm Beach State College, 8-5, on Wednesday.
Palm Beach State struck first in the fourth inning when Wetmiller singled to bring home a run.
CLC answered in the bottom half of the frame to take a 3-1 lead. Luke Koeller drew a bases-loaded walk to score one, and Blake Twito followed with a two-run single to put the Lancers in front.
Palm Beach State regained control in the fifth, highlighted by a three-run home run to right field by Reimann, along with an RBI single from Escobar to make it 5-3.
The Lancers responded immediately.
In the bottom of the fifth, Julio Goyo ripped a two-run double to even the score. Pratim Amin followed with an RBI single, and Twito delivered again with another run-scoring knock to give CLC a 7-5 advantage they would not relinquish.
Matt Self earned the win in relief, tossing four innings while allowing just one hit and three runs (two earned), striking out two. Blake Twito also appeared in relief to help secure the victory.
CLC totaled nine hits on the afternoon. Twito led the charge offensively from the eight spot in the lineup, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Nake Yeager and Twito each collected two hits, while Yeager swiped two bases. As a team, the Lancers stole three bases and applied constant pressure on the base paths.
For Palm Beach State, Hirsch, Reimann, Escobar, and Wetmiller each tallied a hit. Reimann drove in three runs, while Hernandez drew two of the team's seven walks.
College of Lake County closes out its Vero Beach trip today (3/4/26) with a 4:00 PM match up against Capital University.
