The College of Lake County women's soccer team showed grit and resilience Wednesday afternoon, rallying from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Waubonsee Community College in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Waubonsee came out strong in the second, netting two goals in the opening 25 minutes to put the Lancers on their heels. But CLC answered back with determination.
Freshman
Diana Avitia sparked the comeback when she buried a rebound off a shot from fellow freshman
Kylie Parisi, cutting the Chiefs' lead in half. The momentum continued to swing in the Lancers' favor, and with just 10 minutes remaining, Parisi was fouled inside the penalty area. She calmly converted the penalty kick, evening the score at 2-2.
Despite both teams pushing for a winner in the closing minutes, the defenses held firm and the match ended in a draw.
