The College of Lake County women's soccer team fought to a 2-2 tie against Morton College Wednesday afternoon in Illinois Skyway Conference play at Grayslake.
It was a back-and-forth contest with both sides creating chances before Morton broke through first, scoring with 12:55 left in the first half. The Lancers responded almost immediately, as freshman
Kylie Parisi netted her first goal of the game just 36 seconds later, finishing a long pass from sophomore
Alejandra Colo.
The Mustangs quickly regained the lead with another goal four minutes later, sending Morton into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
CLC struck back early in the second half. Nine minutes after the restart, freshman
Grace Quirke delivered a well-placed free kick into the box, where Parisi connected to score her second goal of the game, leveling the match at 2-2.
Both defenses tightened the rest of the way, with neither side able to find the winner. Freshman goalkeeper
Makayla Doschadis anchored the Lancers' defense, making 7 saves to preserve the draw.
The result moves the Lancers to 1-1-2 in conference play. Next up, CLC will host Region 4 opponent Triton College on Saturday in Grayslake.
