The College of Lake County women's soccer team opened Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play in emphatic fashion Wednesday, shutting out Prairie State College 8–0 at home.
The Lancers wasted no time seizing control of the match. Sophomore
Giselle Morales-Cobian struck first just eight minutes into the contest, setting the tone for the offensive surge. By halftime, CLC had built a commanding 5–0 lead.

Yatziri Martinez Gomez led the way with a dynamic performance, recording two goals and three assists. She connected seamlessly with her teammates to help fuel the attack.

Grace Quirke also scored twice to highlight the Lancers' depth up front. Sophomore
Alejandra Colo added her second goal of the season to cap off the scoring.

The convincing win moves CLC to 1–0 in conference play. The Lancers will look to carry their momentum into their next match on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they host South Suburban College at 1:30 p.m. in Grayslake.
