The Lancers returned from the holiday break in strong fashion Tuesday night, opening conference play with a convincing 91–70 victory over Oakton College.
From the opening tip, the Lancers set the tone on both ends of the floor, jumping out to an early lead and carrying a 50–31 advantage into halftime. Crisp ball movement and efficient offensive execution allowed the Lancers to control the pace, and they never looked back in the second half.
Rob Walls led the way offensively with 21 points while adding 5 assists. Corey Lee and Tracy Kalonda each contributed 11 points, with Kalonda also pulling down 8 rebounds. Owen Squires chipped in 10 points and 3 rebounds to round out a balanced scoring effort.
The Lancers' unselfish play was a key factor in the win, as the team dished out 23 assists on the night while committing just 11 turnovers—an impressive combination that kept constant pressure on Oakton throughout the game.
With the victory, the Lancers improve to 1–0 in conference play and will look to build on the momentum moving forward.
