The Lancers put together a dominant and complete performance Tuesday night in their annual Play4Kay Fundraiser game, racing past Elgin CC with an emphatic 89–60 victory.
CLC wasted no time setting the tone, exploding out of the gates with a 30–14 first-quarter lead behind relentless pace and red-hot shooting. The Lancers buried eight three-pointers in the first half, forcing Elgin to abandon its zone defense early and scramble to keep up. By halftime, CLC had built a commanding 44–26 advantage.
The momentum didn't slow coming out of the break. The Lancers continued to attack offensively in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 18 points and racking up 66 total points through three quarters. Any hopes of a Spartan comeback were shut down in the fourth, as CLC locked in defensively, holding Elgin to just 12 points over the final 10 minutes. On the night, the Lancers forced 25 turnovers, turning defense into offense all game long.
CLC was led by a balanced scoring attack, highlighted by Arianna Myers, who poured in 24 points off the bench. Annamaria Luna followed with 19 points and 6 assists, while Monica Sierzputowski posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Robinson added 13 points and 9 assists, Nevada Holm chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Hannah Reyes rounded out the scoring with 7 points.
After the game, Head Coach Tanner Morris praised his team's focus and execution.
"This was the most complete 40 minutes we've played all season," Morris said. "Our energy, ball movement, shot selection, and defensive intensity were exactly what we've been pushing for. From start to finish, our group stayed locked in and played for each other."
Morris also emphasized the importance of the night beyond the scoreboard.
"Play4Kay means a lot to our program," he added. "To honor that cause by playing this hard and this together says a lot about who these players are."
The Lancers improved their momentum with the convincing win while continuing to support the fight against cancer, making Tuesday night a meaningful one both on and off the court.
