College of Lake County erased a four-run deficit to defeat Highland Community College 9–7 on Sunday.

College of Lake County struck first in the opening inning when Emma Andrews delivered a full-count double to plate a run. Highland CC quickly responded, taking a 3–1 lead in the bottom of the first with the help of an error and a two-run double from #10.

Highland extended its advantage in the second inning, adding three more runs, one on a walk by #7 and two on a double from #4—to make it 6–1.

CLC mounted its comeback in the sixth inning. Skye Meler ignited the rally with an RBI single, followed by RBI doubles from Lindsey Radermacher and Cayden VonSande, giving CLC the lead for good.

Cayden VonSande was dominant in relief, tossing 5? innings while allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Nadia McCabe started for CLC but struggled early, surrendering six runs (three earned) in 1? innings.

Offensively, CLC collected 12 hits. Skye Meler led the way with two RBIs, while Tyler Brock, Skye Meler, Gretchen Hansen, and Kaylin Worley each recorded two hits. The team also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, and aggression on the bases with five stolen bases, Megan Livingston and Gretchen Hansen each swiping multiple bags.

For Highland CC, #4 drove in three runs, while #6 added two hits in three at-bats. Highland also turned a double play in the contest.

GAME 2: CLC 14 Highland (IL) 1

College of Lake County rolled past Highland Community College 14–1 on Sunday, powered by a huge day at the plate from Cayden VonSande.

Cayden VonSande led the offensive explosion, going 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run, plus two singles and multiple RBIs. The big hit came in the fourth inning, when Cayden VonSande circled the bases for a solo inside-the-park homer to cap another scoring surge.

CLC wasted no time taking control. In the first inning, Skye Meler and Emma Andrews each drove in runs with doubles before Cayden VonSande delivered a two-run single. Gretchen Hansen followed with another two-run single, giving CLC a commanding early lead.

The Lakers kept the pressure on in the second, adding three more runs behind RBI singles from Emma Andrews and Kaylin Worley. They tacked on another run in the third after a Highland error, then broke things open in the fourth with three runs on four hits, including Tyler Brock's RBI triple and Skye Meler's run-scoring single.

In the circle, Sophia Zepeda was sharp, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings while striking out five and walking one.

CLC's offense was relentless, piling up 17 hits. Cayden VonSande and Kaylin Worley each collected three hits hitting back-to-back in the lineup, while Tyler Brock, Megan Livingston, Skye Meler, and Emma Andrews all had multi-hit games. The team also dominated on the base paths, stealing eight bases, with Skye Meler swiping two. Defensively, CLC turned two double plays.

Highland CC was led by #4, who went 2-for-2, while #8 drove in the team's lone run.

College of Lake County returns home Monday to face MATC Stormers in its next match up.
