CLC Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Moraine Valley

GAME 1: CLC 6 Moraine Valley 8

The College of Lake County mounted a late comeback after trailing by five runs in the sixth inning, but ultimately fell short in an 8–6 loss to the Moraine Valley Cyclones on Saturday.

Moraine Valley jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Radtke launched a three-run home run to left field. They continued to build momentum in the second, as a single by Phelan pushed the lead to 4–2. Radtke struck again in the third inning with an RBI double, extending the advantage to 5–2.

College of Lake County showed resilience late in the game. They began to chip away at the deficit with timely hitting, including a home run and a single. In the seventh inning, Julio Goyo delivered a key moment with a two-run home run to left field, helping narrow the gap.

Despite the rally, Moraine Valley held on for the win. Elting earned the victory, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits over four innings while striking out seven and walking four. Matt Self took the loss for College of Lake County, giving up seven runs on eight hits over 5? innings, with three strikeouts and one walk.

Julio Goyo led College of Lake County offensively with three RBIs, finishing 1-for-3. Nate Yeager, Angel Berrios, Trevor Meathe, Eiker Noguera, and Julio Goyo each recorded a hit in the game.


GAME 2: CLC 6 Moraine Valley 1
 

College of Lake County secured a strong 6–1 victory over the Moraine Valley Cyclones on Saturday.

They wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, capitalizing on a fielder's choice off the bat of Javy Rolon that brought in the game's first run. College of Lake County added to their lead in the third inning when Julio Goyo lifted a sacrifice fly, extending the advantage to 2–0.

From there, College of Lake County maintained control behind a solid pitching performance from Brian Buchert. The starter went 6? innings, allowing just three hits and one unearned run while striking out four and walking one. Hicks took the loss for Moraine Valley, pitching five innings and surrendering five runs (two earned) on eight hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.

Offensively, College of Lake County tallied 10 hits. Julio Goyo led the way with two RBIs, going 1-for-2 on the day. Angel Berrios and Eiker Noguera each contributed two hits, helping pace the lineup. The defense also played a key role, turning two double plays.

For Moraine Valley, Radtke drove in the lone run and went 1-for-2 at the plate. Hullinger, Radtke, and Valez each recorded a hit in the loss.

College of Lake County will look to carry the momentum into their next match up against Olive-Harvey College on Sunday.
