Baseball Falls at #8 Madison College

College of Lake County couldn't recover from an early surge by Madison College, dropping a 6-1 decision on Sunday at Madison College.

Madison College struck first in the opening inning when Novinska launched a two-run home run to center field. They continued to build momentum in the second, as Gruber doubled to left and Wolbert followed with an RBI single down the line, extending the lead.

Madison added another run in the third inning on an RBI single by Hurd, pushing the advantage to 5-1.

Musolf earned the win for Madison College, allowing just one hit and one run over five innings while striking out five. Buchert took the loss for the Lancers, going six innings and allowing six runs (three earned) on nine hits.

Offensively, Pratim Amin and Luke Koeller each recorded a hit for College of Lake County, while Javy Rolon drove in the team's lone run. The Lancers also turned a double play defensively.

Madison College tallied nine hits on the day, led by Novinska's two RBIs. Moses and Maika each collected two hits, with Moses adding two stolen bases as part of a three-steal effort for Madison. Defensively, Madison played a clean game without committing an error.

College of Lake County couldn't match Madison College's early momentum in a 5-1 loss on Sunday.

Madison College took control in the first inning, capitalizing on patience at the plate. Two walks set the tone, with Falish drawing a bases-loaded walk to bring in the game's first run.

Tevz dominated on the mound for Madison College, tossing five and one-third scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out nine without issuing a walk. Blake Twito took the loss for the Lancers, finishing with six strikeouts over three and one-third innings.

Pratim Amin and Julio Goyo provided the offense for College of Lake County, each collecting a hit while batting back to back in the lineup. The Lancers also turned a double play defensively.

Madison College was led by Salvesen, who drove in two runs and went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Gruber and Salvesen each recorded two hits, while Falish drew two of the team's eight walks. Madison also played a clean defensive game, committing no errors and turning a double play.

College of Lake County will look to bounce back Monday as they take on McHenry County in a double header.
