GAME 1: CLC 11 Oakton 2
College of Lake County rolled to an 11-2 victory over Oakton on Tuesday.
Oakton struck first in the opening inning, as Ishii doubled to drive in a run. The Lancers responded immediately in the bottom half, taking control of the game. Skye Meler delivered a two-run double, Emma Andrews added a sacrifice fly, and a passed ball brought in another run to give CLC a 4-1 lead.
The Lancers continued to build on their advantage in the third inning. Kaylin Worley ripped an RBI double, and Lindsey Radermacher followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.
Olivia Peters earned the win on the mound, tossing five innings while allowing five hits and two runs. He struck out five and did not issue a walk. Arizpe took the loss for Oakton after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over two innings.
Offensively, Emma Andrews led the way with three RBIs, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Tyler Brock, Skye Meler, Kaylin Worley, and Emma Andrews each collected two hits as part of a balanced Lancers attack. Megan Livingston added pressure on the base paths with two stolen bases, while the team totaled four steals overall.
Defensively, College of Lake County was flawless, committing no errors. Gretchen Hansen led the team with five chances in the field.
GAME 2: CLC 3 Oakton 1
Both teams were strong in the circle on Tuesday, but College of Lake County came away with a 3-1 victory over Oakton.
The Lancers got on the board in the first inning when Skye Meler drew a bases-loaded walk to score the game's first run. They added to their lead in the second, as Gretchen Hansen delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Nadia McCabe was dominant in the circle for CLC, going the distance and recording all 21 outs. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one run over seven innings, while striking out six and walking three.
Gartner matched her for much of the game for Oakton, pitching a complete game while allowing nine hits and three runs, with two strikeouts and two walks.
Skye Meler led the Lancers offensively, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Defensively, CLC was flawless, turning a double play and committing no errors. Gretchen Hansen led the way in the field with seven chances.
For Oakton, Ishii and Gartner each recorded a hit, with Gartner driving in the team's lone run. Oakton also turned a double play and played error-free defense, with Rodriguez leading the team with four chances in the field.
College of Lake County returns to action Wednesday on the road against South Suburban College.
