GAME 1: CLC 2 Black Hawk 0
Both teams were solid in the circle on Saturday, but College of Lake County came out on top with a 2–0 victory over the Black Hawk Braves.
Nadia McCabe delivered a dominant performance, recording all 21 outs for College of Lake County without allowing a run. Despite giving up 10 hits, Nadia McCabe consistently worked out of trouble to preserve the shutout.
College of Lake County got on the board in the third inning when Tyler Brock drove in a run with a single. They added an insurance run in the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Lindsey Radermacher.
Carter pitched well for the Braves, allowing just two runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out nine and walking one.
Tyler Brock and Lindsey Radermacher each recorded an RBI for College of Lake County, which also played flawless defense. Tyler Brock led the team defensively with four chances.
For the Braves, Kunert had a standout day at the plate, going 4-for-4. The team also played error-free defense, turned one double play, and saw Dean lead the field with seven chances.
GAME 2: CLC 8 Black Hawk 0
College of Lake County erupted for six runs in the first inning and never looked back, cruising to an 8–0 win over the Black Hawk Braves on Saturday.
The big first inning was fueled by timely hitting and a key defensive miscue. Mitchell forced Kaylin Worley into a fielder's choice that brought in a run, Lindsey Radermacher followed with an RBI single, and Olivia Peters added another run-scoring single. Addison Schroeder delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a two-run single, and an error helped cap the six-run outburst.
College of Lake County extended its lead in the third inning, adding two more runs after Gretch Hansen grounded out and another Black Hawk Braves error allowed a run to score.
Sophia Zepeda got the start on the mound and was in control throughout, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits. The left-hander struck out five and walked one.
Mitchell started for the Braves and was charged with six runs (four earned) on five hits over 4? innings, striking out three and walking one.
Offensively, Addison Schroeder led the way for College of Lake County with two RBIs from the eighth spot in the lineup, finishing 2-for-3. Megan Livingston added pressure on the bases with two stolen bases, helping the team tally three steals overall. College of Lake County also turned a double play on defense.
For the Braves, Mitchell, Trzynka, and Lovell each recorded a hit.
College of Lake County will look to carry the momentum into its next game on Friday at Moraine Valley Community College.
