GAME 1: CLC 11 South Suburban 7
College of Lake County used a big offensive performance to defeat South Suburban College 11-7 on Wednesday.
Kaylin Worley led the way for the Lancers, driving in four runs on three hits. She got things started early with a two-run home run in the first inning, then added an RBI single in the second and an RBI double in the fourth.
CLC jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Emma Andrews singled to bring in a run, followed by Worley's two-run blast. The Lancers continued to build momentum in the second, adding three more runs on RBI singles from Tyler Brock and Kaylin Worley.
South Suburban answered in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to left field by Munoz, but the Lancers' offense continued to apply pressure throughout the game.
Sophia Zepeda earned the win for College of Lake County, allowing six runs on nine hits over three and two-thirds innings while striking out one and walking four. Nadia McCabe provided relief out of the bullpen. Abeyta took the loss for South Suburban, giving up five runs on nine hits over four innings.
The Lancers totaled 17 hits in the game. Kaylin Worley,Emma Andrews, and Addison Schroeder each collected three hits, while Tyler Brock, Lindsey Radermacher, Olivia Peters, and Megan Livingston added multiple hits. Megan Livingston also swiped two bases as CLC finished with three stolen bases.
GAME 2: CLC 9 South Suburban 4
Olivia Peters delivered a dominant performance in the circle, striking out 10 to lead College of Lake County to a 9-4 victory over South Suburban College on Wednesday.
The right-hander went the distance, allowing five hits and four runs over eight innings while issuing no walks.
The Lancers opened the scoring in the third inning when Tyler Brock doubled to drive in a run. Olivia Peters helped her own cause in the sixth, launching a solo home run to center field to extend the lead.
South Suburban battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth, using a double from Munoz and an RBI single by Lira.
CLC responded in a big way in the eighth inning, erupting for five runs on five hits to take control. Olivia Peters delivered the key blow with a two-run double as part of the rally.
Green took the loss for South Suburban, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits over seven and one-third innings, while striking out one and walking eight.
Tyler Brock, Olivia Peters, and Sophia Zepeda each collected two hits for the Lancers, with Olivia Peters and Sophia Zepeda driving in three runs apiece. CLC showed strong plate discipline, drawing eight walks, led by Emma Andrews and Addison Schroeder with two each. Tyler Brock also added two stolen bases.
College of Lake County returns to action Saturday on the road against Black Hawk.
