Box Score The Lancers women's basketball team hosted NJCAA D1 Sauk Valley on a Monday night home game and beat the Skyhawks 63-40 to close out the 1st semester. The Lancers came out firing on cylinders. "We did some great team things on the defensive end in the first half, which led to an overall confidence boost in the team I haven't seen all year" said Lancer's coach Tanner Morris. "We got off to a hot start and didn't know what we were doing and then hit a bump in the road after 10 straight wins, but the girls stuck together and kept working hard. Tonight, was the first time all year I've seen the light click as a team. I am very excited to get back from the Holiday Break and get things going again, this group is a very hard working, determined group!" The Lancers had a slow offensive first half, however stayed focused on the defensive end, never letting Sauk Valley get things going on the offensive end as the Lancer's closed out the half with a 26-25 lead.
The Lancers came out in 2nd half firing on all cylinders. The Lancers used a 19-0 run to close out the 3rd quarter to take a commanding 50-31 lead thanks to stellar defense and some hot shooting. "I was really proud of how the girls responded after halftime. I challenged them to several team goals in the 2nd half and they delivered" said Morris. CLC was led in scoring by freshman Kennedee Clark with 16 points and 4 rebounds and Chloe Sisco with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Camiria Sardin added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lancers closed out the semester with an 11-3 record. CLC will return to action January 6th 2024 as they host College of DuPage and enter conference play January 9th as they will travel to Elgin CC. Happy Holidays!
