MATC battled back late, tying the game in the seventh inning capitalizing on an error and another passed ball to force extra innings.

Cayden VonSande earned the win with a strong complete-game performance, allowing six hits and five runs (only two earned) over eight innings while striking out seven. Tearney took the loss for MATC, surrendering five runs on 14 hits across six innings.

GAME 2: CLC 12 MATC 4

College of Lake County delivered a dominant performance in Game 2 Monday, defeating MATC 12–4 at the Grayslake Campus.

MATC Stormers struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on an error along with an RBI single from Baldon and a groundout by Neave to take an early 3–0 lead.

That advantage didn't last long.

The Lancers responded immediately with a huge bottom of the first, erupting for five runs on six hits to take control of the game. Emma Andrews delivered the key hit of the inning with a two-run single to spark the rally.

The offense kept rolling. In the second inning, the Lancers added more runs behind a mix of timely hitting and Stormers miscues, including a double down the left field line by Lindsey Radermacher and an RBI single from Cayden VonSande.

They continued to build the lead in the third, with Skye Meler driving in a run on a single and Emma Andrews adding another RBI on a groundout, stretching the margin even further.

On the mound, Sophia Zepeda earned the win, going four innings while allowing five hits and four runs (three earned), striking out two and walking four. Olivia Peters provided a strong relief appearance, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

Offensively, Emma Andrews led the middle of the lineup with two RBIs, while Skye Meler paced the team with two hits. The Lancers also put constant pressure on the defense with aggressive base running, Tyler Brock and Megan Livingston each swiped multiple bases as the team totaled seven stolen bases.

For MATC Stormers, Carani led the way at the plate with a perfect 2-for-2 performance. Paulick, Neave, and Baldon each drove in a run, while Dorado showed patience at the plate with two walks as the team drew four total.

Despite a strong start, MATC Stormers couldn't contain the Lancers' offensive surge, as College of Lake County steadily pulled away for the convincing victory in Game 2.

The Lances are back in action Tuesday, as they travel to Elgin CC for a double header starting at 3:00PM.
